The Industry Specialist is responsible for projects and/or Industry specific customer account support. This position also has the responsibility to create and develop on-going business relationships to increase market share and obtain growth. The Industry Specialist will develop and maintain a senior Sales and Engineering role and take on project management at target accounts.<br><br>Assist the Industry Sales and Global Industry Manager execute new sales strategies for industries as they are developed and released to the market.<br><br><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</b><br><br>&bull; Profitably grows sales through proactive management of top strategic accounts.<br><br>&bull; Presents all of SMC's capabilities, services and products to current and prospective customers.<br><br>&bull; Drive SMC specification at the customer level.<br><br>&bull; Represents customer's needs and goals within the organization to ensure quality.<br><br>&bull; Leads all aspects of the sales process, calling upon others to assist in solution development.<br><br>&bull; Document sales calls, projects, opportunities, contacts, success reports and activity in CRM.<br><br>&bull; Completes detailed SAP and forecasts as required<br><br>&bull; Maintains/creates very strong and deep-rooted relationships with key decision makers within designated strategic target accounts; recognized and respected by customer's top management team within top rated accounts.<br><br>&bull; Effectively utilize SMC tools and resources to ensure organizational consistency and efficiency<br><br>&bull; Meet or exceed target sales goals as detailed by Branch and Sales Managers<br><br>&bull; Have passed all Pneumatic theory and other technical training required by SMC.<br><br>&bull; Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional associations.<br><br>&bull; Promote a team selling environment by sharing knowledge and fostering cross functional support.<br><br>&bull; Work with marketing to create catalogs, flyers, brochures and other materials promoting the industry<br><br>&bull; Work with the Global Industry Manager to communicate and coordinate efforts for target accounts internationally<br><br>&bull; Provide continuous training to all sales and ISS representatives<br><br>&bull; Assist the SMC training group with local presentations of training courses<br><br>&bull; Participate at national, regional and local trade shows to support product promotion within the assigned industry<br><br>&bull; Successfully complete other duties as prescribed by sales management<br><br><b>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT</b><br><br>&bull; Fast paced environment (includes both office and field work)<br><br>&bull; Travel with some extended stay away from home<br><br>&bull; Physically capable of lifting SMC products and displays up to 50 lbs.<br><br>&bull; Varying work hours<br><br><b>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</b><br><br>&bull; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related technical field or equivalent experience<br><br>&bull; Minimum of five (5) years of sales experience with SMC or equivalent industry sales experience<br><br>&bull; Excellent communication, problem-solving, project management and leadership skills<br><br>&bull; Proficient in the use of computers and ability to learn new programs and tools as required<br><br>&bull; Clean Driving Record<br><br><p style=\"opacity: 0.0;\">For internal use only: Sales001</p><br><b>Req id:</b> 3635","department":"Sales","departmentId":"68ae15cb9f66fa003420c7b8","employmentType":[{"value":"Full Time"}],"datePosted":"2025-06-03T00:00:00.000Z","applyUrl":"https://careers.smcusa.com/apply","attributes":["Sales, Marketing & Product Management"],"recruiterAssigned":{"id":73,"name":"Sue Schlinger","email":"schlinger.sue@smc.com"},"address":[{"city":"Chicago","state":"Illinois","country":"USA","zipCode":60601,"address1":"","location":{"type":"Point","coordinates":["",""]}},{"city":"Milwaukee","state":"WI","country":"US","zipCode":"","address1":"","location":{"type":"Point","coordinates":["",""]}},{"city":"Minneapolis","state":"MN","country":"US","zipCode":"","address1":"","location":{"type":"Point","coordinates":["",""]}}],"city":"Chicago","state":"Illinois","zipCode":"60601","country":"USA","salaryMin":null,"salaryMax":null,"salRateType":null,"brandId":412027,"createdAt":"2025-06-03T00:00:00.000Z","updatedAt":"2026-05-13T16:00:02.358Z"},"summary":"Job details for Automation Account Manager"}
