This position requires creativity, innovation, electronic product design capability, product evaluation, and research. A successful candidate will be competent in the aspects of design and problem-solving from engineering first principles<br><br><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</b><br><br>&bull; Interpret internal and external customer requirements to meet desired outputs.<br><br>&bull; Conduct technical product evaluations to identify potential modes of failure as defined by existing documentation and report results back to internal and external customers.<br><br>&bull; Communicate technical knowledge, specification, and direction to internal and external customers.<br><br>&bull; Develop software code for embedded processors and support applications.<br><br>&bull; Read, interpret, troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical schematics.<br><br>&bull; Develop, troubleshoot, and configure product communication protocols.<br><br>&bull; Create and input data utilizing corporate management system software that include software documentation, code releases, and test reports.<br><br>&bull; Perform guided research on a variety of topics and provide summarized data results.<br><br>&bull; Complete assigned tasks using predefined departmental processes.<br><br>&bull; Hands on technical support for both internal and external customers.<br><br>&bull; Participate on a team to accomplish given tasks or processes.<br><br>&bull; Travel mainly for the purpose of training, customer support, or trade shows. (Less than 10%)<br><br>&bull; All other duties as assigned.<br><br>&bull; Record daily activities<br><br><b>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT</b><br><br>&bull; Capacity to work indoors in an office, laboratory, and/or manufacturing environment.<br><br>&bull; Ability to work in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.<br><br>&bull; Capability to lift objects or equipment weighing up to 51 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.<br><br>&bull; Physical aptitude to use basic hand tools in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment.<br><br>&bull; Ability to travel and/or attend meetings domestic and internationally outside of normal business hours.<br><br><b>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</b><br><br>&bull; Bachelor's degree in a computer science, computer engineering, electrical or technical engineering discipline, or the equivalent in appropriate education and experience as determined by management utilizing internal SMC career development criteria.<br><br>&bull; Novice understanding of the product development process.<br><br>&bull; Novice understanding to apply project management principles, methodologies, and documentation.<br><br>&bull; Novice understanding of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) processes.<br><br>&bull; Novice in use of Integrated Development Environments and code repositories.<br><br>&bull; Competent in use of common embedded programming languages.<br><br>&bull; Novice understanding of schematics.<br><br>&bull; Competent understanding of communication protocols.<br><br>&bull; Novice in conducting research using corporate resources.<br><br>&bull; Competent at efficient use of time to effectively plan and execute multiple duties.<br><br>&bull; Competent to utilize basic inspection equipment in a laboratory environment. (Calipers, micrometers, flow meter, voltmeter, Oscilloscope, etc.)<br><br>&bull; Novice to utilize advanced inspection equipment in a laboratory environment.
