The Sales Manager will be<br><br>responsible for managing and directing all sales activities within their designated responsibilities. Additional responsibility is to lead, guide, coach, mentor, and<br><br>manage the sales team with the goal of increasing market share<br><br><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</b><br><br>&bull; Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales team capable of achieving sales objectives.<br><br>&bull; Set clear performance expectations, sales targets, and KPIs for team members.<br><br>&bull; Develop and implement local sales initiatives in line with national sales strategy<br><br>&bull; Drive account growth and increased market penetration within assigned geographic territory<br><br>&bull; Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive offerings<br><br>&bull; Monitor sales productivity within assigned geographic territory<br><br>&bull; Elevate and report market trends, developments and competitor information to sales management as necessary<br><br>&bull; Ensure adherence to all applicable cost control measures<br><br>&bull; Accurately forecast sales dollars based on territory account alignment<br><br>&bull; Create and manage profitable relationships between distributors, customers, and other SMC representatives<br><br>&bull; Training of junior level sales staff in SMC products, industries and customers, as well as sales skills and SMC sales tool use and resource identification<br><br>&bull; Conduct distributor training as necessary to ensure proper understanding of SMC products and industries to drive market penetration growth through SMC business partners<br><br>&bull; Monitor and leverage your team in CRM activity for sales calls, projects, opportunities, contacts, leads, success reports and tasks assigned<br><br>&bull; Development of junior level sales professionals for future management roles - coach, guide, lead<br><br>&bull; Represent SMC at industry trade shows and local job fairs<br><br>&bull; Define and implement standardized sales processes, methods, and best practices to streamline operations and improve efficiency<br><br>&bull; Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and customer support, to align sales efforts with company objectives<br><br>&bull; Leverage CRM systems and sales analytics tools to track sales performance, forecast revenue<br><br>&bull; Consistent OJT through ride-a-longs with your local team<br><br><b>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT</b><br><br>&bull; Fast paced environment (including both office and field work)<br><br>&bull; Travel with some extended stay away from home<br><br>&bull; Physically capable of lifting SMC products and displays up to 50 lbs.<br><br><b>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</b><br><br>&bull; Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related technical field, or equivalent experience<br><br>&bull; Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience<br><br>&bull; Minimum of three (3) years of experience with SMC or equivalent industrial sales experience<br><br>&bull; Successfully complete the Sales Management training<br><br>&bull; Thorough knowledge of SMC products and procedures<br><br>&bull; Thorough knowledge of SMC Sales strategies<br><br>&bull; Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills<br><br>&bull; Proficient in the CRM and the use of computers and ability to learn new programs and tools as required<br><br>&bull; Clean driving record<br><br><p style=\"opacity: 0.0;\">For internal use only: Sales001</p><br><b>Req id:</b> 3939","department":"Sales","departmentId":"68ae15cb9f66fa003420c7b8","employmentType":[{"value":"Full Time"}],"datePosted":"2025-09-12T00:00:00.000Z","applyUrl":"https://careers.smcusa.com/apply","attributes":["Sales, Marketing & Product Management"],"recruiterAssigned":{"id":73,"name":"Sue Schlinger","email":"schlinger.sue@smc.com"},"address":[{"city":"Chicago","state":"Illinois","country":"USA","zipCode":60601,"address1":"","location":{"type":"Point","coordinates":["",""]}}],"city":"Chicago","state":"Illinois","zipCode":"60601","country":"USA","salaryMin":null,"salaryMax":null,"salRateType":null,"brandId":412027,"createdAt":"2025-09-12T00:00:00.000Z","updatedAt":"2026-05-13T16:00:02.358Z"},"summary":"Job details for Outside - Manager Sales"}
