{"tool":"get_job","result":{"requisitionId":"4209-6692","client":"SMC","title":"Lead Mechanical Product Support Engineer","description":"PURPOSE<br><br>This role is to provide mechanical application technical support for internal and external customers. This position requires creativity, innovation, product design knowledge, and product application evaluation and research. A successful candidate will be fluent in the  aspects of design and problem-solving utilizing engineering first principles with an emphasis on system analysis, pneumatic solutions, and mentoring of resources.<br><br><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</b><br><br>&bull; Interpret internal and external customer requirements to meet desired outputs while suggesting alternatives.<br><br>&bull; Conduct technical application evaluations to identify potential solutions or recommend alternatives to customer technical  inquiries by reviewing existing documentation and report results back to internal and external customers.<br><br>&bull; Communicate technical knowledge and specification to an extended audience (technical and non-technical) of internal and external customers.<br><br>&bull; Read and interpret pneumatic schematics.<br><br>&bull; Troubleshoot pneumatic circuits.<br><br>&bull; Review and interpret data utilizing corporate management system software that include CAD models and product documentation.<br><br>&bull; Perform guided and/or independent research on a variety of topics and provide summarized data results.<br><br>&bull; Complete assigned tasks while providing suggestions for improving departmental processes.<br><br>&bull; Hands on technical support for an extended audience (technical and non-technical) of internal and external customers.<br><br>&bull; Participate on and/or lead teams to accomplish tasks, processes, and corporate directives.<br><br>&bull; Travel mainly for the purpose of training, customer support, or trade shows. (Less than 25%)<br><br>&bull; All other duties as assigned.<br><br>&bull; Record daily activities.<br><br><b>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT</b><br><br>&bull; Capacity to work indoors in an office, laboratory, and/or manufacturing environment.<br><br>&bull; Ability to work in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.<br><br>&bull; Capability to lift objects or equipment weighing up to 51 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.<br><br>&bull; Physical aptitude to use basic hand tools in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment.<br><br>&bull; Ability to travel and/or attend meetings domestic and internationally outside of normal business hours<br><br><b>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</b><br><br>&bull; Bachelor's degree in a mechanical or technical engineering discipline, or the equivalent in appropriate education and<br><br>experience as determined by management utilizing internal SMC career development criteria.<br><br>&bull; Novice understanding of the product development process.<br><br>&bull; Competent understanding to apply project management principles, methodologies, and documentation.<br><br>&bull; Novice understanding of CAE tools and results as applied to the product application process.<br><br>&bull; Novice understanding of tolerance as it relates to design intent.<br><br>&bull; Competent understanding of common industrial processes and/or controls.<br><br>&bull; Competent understanding of material and component options by application.<br><br>&bull; Competent understanding of schematics.<br><br>&bull; Competent in conducting research using corporate resources.<br><br>&bull; Fluent at efficient use of time to effectively plan and execute multiple duties.<br><br>&bull; Fluent to utilize basic inspection equipment in a laboratory environment. (Calipers, micrometers, flow meter, voltmeter, etc.)<br><br>&bull; Competent to utilize advanced inspection equipment in a laboratory environment.
